Global GreenTag International certification has stepped up to another league with external international standards recognition by certification body DNV-GL . The announcement propels the GreenTag eco-label and certification mark – already the most advanced in Australia – to a new level of industry trust around the globe, which is great news for GreenTag certified products!
As a leading conformance body, GreenTag now holds external verification that is compliant to ISO 17065 (pertaining to the rules for certification bodies) and ISO 9001:2008 (pertaining to the quality management system of GreenTag’s certification processes). The GreenTag certification mark was already externally verified to ISO 14024 by the certification body Compass in 2015.
To be Externally Verified at these ISO standards adds an additional layer of confidence for GreenTag – providing assurance for manufacturers who submit their products to be certified by the label and also for industry professionals, government bodies and GreenTag certified product end users.
Gaining DNV-GL Verification also assures the market that GreenTag assessors are competent to carry out certification procedures at the high levels that have been set by the Global GreenTag International Certification Standard V.4 and also the rules set out for Peer Review Assessments.
Speaking on the announcement, GreenTag’s Co-Founder, Program Director and CEO David Baggs states that it has always been critical that GreenTag stands out as an independent and scientifically robust certification body and also as an innovative label.
GreenTag is a certification leader in many ways. In Australia, it is the only ACCC approved certification mark in the building sector. GreenTag is also renowned for being the first certifier in the world to introduce Life Cycle Analysis and Beyond LCA assessment.
GreenTag’s team of product assessors and the label’s National Advisory Committee, says David, are continuously guided by GreenTag’s mission to protect and regenerate natural systems and resources by supporting manufacturers, professionals and consumers with certification standards and metrics that encourage growth and greater market demand for healthy, safe and earth friendly products.
The GreenTag mission is commensurate in many ways, says David, with the high standards of DNV-GL, whose purpose is to help make the world safer, smarter and greener. “GreenTag’s aim is to offer product certification at the highest levels and our goal is to keep pushing those levels higher. We already have some new developments in the pipeline.”
“We have not ceased our development to improve the GreenTag certification system since we launched in 2010, and this is why we apply to one of the toughest auditing firms in the world to verify our processes.”
“We want GreenTag to be a leader in the certification field. To be that, it is crucial that we also submit GreenTag’s internal processes to undergo the same high level of scrutiny for transparency and information disclosure that we place on product claims and take manufacturers through.”
