Greenbuild China this year became the site of Global GreenTag International nurturing new initiatives for its operations in Mainland China and the Americas.  Cricket Liu,  GreenTag’s licensee partner for Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan joined forces in Shanghai with Daniel Huard, GreenTag’s CEO of the Americas and together they had talks with teams from a number of the world’s leading green building rating schemes as GreenTag works towards some exciting development to benefit manufacturers throughout Mainland China, Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Speaking from his offices in Xiamen, Mr Liu who is also Technical Director of Ecosafene/CASfire, a leading product testing company in Mainland China, says “it was fantastic to join Daniel Huard at Greenbuild.  I have heard a lot about Daniel who introduced me to some very positive and dedicated people from the USGBC who hosted Greenbuild China as well as,  the International Living Future Institute and the International WELL Building Institute.

“The manufacturing market in Mainland China is one of the biggest in the world and I am confident that the Global GreenTag Certification programs have a lot to offer it.  We are very eager to help support the growth of Materials Transparency, green product manufacturing and green building projects in Mainland China and beyond,” said Mr Liu.

Daniel Huard, who is also a LEED® Fellow, and an International WELL Building Institute™ WELL Faculty member said:

“The energy and content at Greenbuild China  “was amazing. I was impressed with a whole list of inspiring green initiatives which are happening in this part of the world and it was wonderful to be joined by Cricket Liu.  His background in product and safety testing is highly valuable to GreenTag and it was great to introduce him and our GreenTag offerings to colleagues in Asia. Together we met with some fantastic industry operatives both from Mainland China and others on the global scene concerned with accelerating sustainability globally. It was great to represent GreenTag together and to lay more foundations to establish our Certification Standard as one of the most scientifically advanced product certification systems in the world.”

Reveal Your CarbonRATE™

CarbonRATE™ – a unique peer reviewed Embodied Carbon Product Certification Program – has been re-launched under the Global GreenTag International Certification Standard.  CarbonRATE™ has been upgraded to strongly challenge the market to design, manufacture and use only products that can scientifically identify carbon impacts and benefits.

Speaking in more detail about the CarbonRATE™ program this week in America at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Atlanta,  David Baggs, Program Director and CEO of Global GreenTag International explained that GreenTag’s new CarbonRATE™  “is deeper detailed to help accelerate a bold climate positive agenda.  Our core mission to help protect and regenerate natural resources firmly sits behind this new set of carbon labelling and metrics,” says Mr. Baggs.

The CarbonRATE program is rolling out for products undergoing GreenTag’s EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) and LCARate certification programs.

Mr. Baggs adds: “What we want is for each CarbonRate TAG issued to tell the whole carbon story behind the full life cycle of each product.” This level of information will be particularly of interest to companies and projects whose policies are now focused on reaching low carbon and zero carbon targets.

The new CarbonRATE TAGS provide products with high visibility carbon performance graphics that include real carbon metrics – instantly communicating the climate performance of products that have been assessed in the program.

“It is vital in this time of climate emergency that we identify for companies and consumers alike the differences between products,” says Mr. Baggs. “By disclosing the proper information and taking products through a program of CarbonLCA (Life Cycle Analysis) we can now show clearly how individual products are reducing climate impacts or providing climate net benefits. We can help quantify carbon offset needs required for specific carbon claims and provide ISO compliant data for robust carbon claims using detailed life cycle analysis.”

Global GreenTag International is a signatory to the World Green Building Council’s (World GBC) bold new #AdvancingNetZero program’s Bringing Embodied Carbon Upfront Vision – an initiative that encourages buildings and infrastructure around the world to reach 40% less embodied carbon emissions by 2030 to achieve 100% net zero emission buildings by 2050.

CHANGING THE WAY WE SEE PRODUCTS FOREVER … Get ready for the next generation of authentic product information

Consumer concern for product transparency is a significant problem for the built environment industries but Global GreenTag International is set to present the market with a solution.

GreenTag is launching an important new transparency tool for delving into product information that is going to empower manufacturers and building professionals to deliver projects with a level of transparency that has never been seen before.

The conscious consumer is on the rise, says Global GreenTag’s CEO and Program Director David Baggs.  We need to change the way we see products forever. Consumers are making it their business to ask for trustworthy, authentic product information and, especially if it concerns risks that are associated with products that are selected for the buildings they are going to occupy.

Unveiling the new tool at a  Media Launch on the opening day of Total Facilities 2017 David Baggs is going reveal how the new tool will work, to:

  • Build greater market trust in manufacturers whose brands are certified with the new tool;
  • Increase the integrity of firms, building professionals and facility managers who use the tool in designing and specifying on projects – and work in systems like Green Star, WELL, LEED and Living Building Challenge;
  • Simplify complex but critical product information that all stakeholders can easily understand and communicate with greater confidence and,
  • Influence bigger changes for the built environment industries in Australia and throughout the world.

David Baggs Keynotes At International Event For Sustainability Week In South Africa

David Baggs,  GreenTag’s CEO and Program Director  is delivering a keynote address this week in South Africa for the African Capital Cities Sustainability Forum,  hosted by the City of Tshwane for Sustainability Week.  David’s keynote is titled ‘Visualising the Circular Economy Using Life Cycle Analysis’ for the technical program Vision Zero Waste Seminar on June 2.

With focus on design for waste minimisation and recycling,  David has been invited to deliver the keynote in the context of a vision for zero waste in South Africa. The seminar comes at a critical time, organisers say, when waste streams are at an all-time high, where some communities are without waste services and landfills are reaching capacity.

David brings hoped for solutions.  He will be focusing on the circular nature of the mindset required to reduce the impact of waste – and how this is possible through LCA centric design.

“Conventional thinking is stuck on damage and loss,” says David.

“From a Global GreenTag perspective, I shall be offering clarity about the terminology used in the area of Life Cycle Analysis thinking and how it naturally applies to a circular economy mindset and sustainable solutions for ecological regeneration.”

David is also presenting two other seminars at Sustainability Week.

In the series for Sustainable Manufacturing, he will be delivering a seminar titled: ‘Sustainability Metrics and LCA: The Business Benefits’

For the Green Business series of Sustainability Week, David is presenting: “The Role of Ecolabels in Greening the Supply Chain.”
